Bunkering
Bunkers are supplied by bunker vessels or by barges.
 

Bunkering Services

Objective

  • Reduce the incidence of accidental spillage which would endanger the environment and safety of the port.

  • Minimise discrepancies, disputes and providing an avenue for the settlement
    of such disputes.

A 200,000 tonnes bunker storage blending facility in Westport is expected to contribute towards Port Klang’s development as a container hub. In 2007 a total of 2.7 milion tonnes of bunkerfuel was handled at Port Klang.

 

PKA recently revised the "Port Klang Bunkering Procedures" that would provide the basis for smooth and efficient bunkering operations at Port Klang. A notification of the Intention to Bunker must be given to PKA not less than 24 hours before commencing bunkering operations.

 

All bunker suppliers licensed by the Authority are required to comply with the "Port Klang Bunkering Procedures". As per PKA notice 01/2008, Shipowners, charterers and operators are advised to do likewise when taking bunkers in Port Klang.   Ship Repairs
 

The repair facilities at Port Klang are adequate for hull, engine, electrical and electronic equipment. For underwater surveys and repair work, divers are available.

 

Dry docking facilities are available. The Muhibbah Shipyard is capable of handling vessels up to a length of 80 metres or 10,000 dwt.

 
Other Services include:

Fresh water is supplied from the mains to ships alongside the wharves at both North Port and Westport. At South Port and anchorages, water is supplied via waterboats.
