Best wishes and warm greetings!
First of all, I would like to welcome all visitors to Port Klang Authority’s (PKA) new website. This website is one of the channels to introduce PKA to the world and acts as a platform to disseminate the latest news and information regarding our aspirations, initiatives, facilities and core services. We hope that you will find the website friendly for navigation and information useful.
Dear Friends, 2018 saw slight rebound and positive development despite the changes which heralded 2017 with uncertainties, due to the restructuring, mergers and acquisition of shipping alliances. Last year, Port Klang handled 12,316,003 TEUs, which recorded 2.8% of annual growth from the previous year. The growth is contributed to the increase of import and export cargo which grew by 10% in 2018.
Port Klang has contributed significantly to the economic growth of Malaysia. As Malaysia’s prime port, our principal functions are to ensure safe operation of the port and continously improve our operational efficiency in order to meet the growing demands of the logistics and shipping industry.
To meet future demand, Port Klang is currently embarking on expanding its port facilities in a sustainable environment. Westports has fully completed the extension of CT8 and CT9 in 2017, while Northport has completed the upgrading of Wharf 8 in July 2018, and is currently installing new quay cranes and other cargo handling equipments. Going forward, the Phase 2 expansion of Westports to add 15 million TEUs capacity is currently undergoing engineering and environmental evaluation. In addition, PKA has embarked on a feasibility study to evaluate the development of a third terminal at Carey Island.
We look forward to another productive year ahead, always striving to provide customer satisfaction in a landscape that is increasingly challenging.
Lastly, thank you for visiting our website. Please feel welcome to drop us a line with your comments and suggestions which is aways appreciated.
Thank you.
