FREE ZONE
Free Zone under the provisions of Section (1B) (a) of the Customs Act (Amendment) 2019, means any area in Malaysia excluded principal customs area (PCA), Labuan, Langkawi, Tioman and Pangkor which has been declared by the Minister to be a free commercial zone or a free industrial zone. Minister that in charge of finance may appoint any government agency or private entity to be the Free Zone Authority as stipulated in Section 3, Free Zones Act 1990.
Free Commercial Zones are permitted to carry out trade activities, while Free Industrial Zones are permitted to carry out manufacturing activities.
Port Klang Authority was appointed by Minister of Finance as the Authority to monitor the commercial activities at North Port, West Port and Southpoint.
Functions of the Free Zone Authority are as follow;
i. Regulating the Act and Regulations of Free Zone.
ii. Trade facilitator.
iii. Advising port users on procedures in the free zones.
iv. Providing statistical reports to the interested parties.
PORT KLANG FREE ZONE SDN BHD (PKFZ)
PKFZ with an area of 1,000 acres has been designed to promote entreport trade and manufacturing industries involved in producing goods primarily for export. Gazetted as a Free Zone, PKFZ incorporates both free commercial zone and free industrial zone located adjacent to Westports.
PKFZ offers such as Lease Office Building (LOB), Light Industrial Unit (LIU) and Open Land to suit the needs of clients and businesses.
